Across the Europe, Great Bustard inhabits parts of Pannonian lowland, midle Europe, region of Black sea, and especially Iberian Peninsula . It is estimated that the hole population has 31000 - 36000 specimens, and the most of these specimens inhabit Spain (23000). Mostly everywhere, population size and distribution area trend was slightly or highly decreasing, but at the end of the 1990s it was recorded slight increase of the population. Active protection measures have contributed to the slight increase and stabilization of the population size in Hungary, Russia, Spain, Portugal and Austria. On the other hand, in the last decade, small and isolated populations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and in the eastern parts of Germany, are slowly decreasing .The population in Romania is decreasing since the 1970s, and it is not known whether it still exists. It is known that in the regions of France and west parts of Germany, also in Greece and Macedonia, population had vanished in 20th century.
